About the Role

Are you a financial expert with a passion for budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making? We are looking for a skilled Financial Controller to join our team. In this key role, you will provide comprehensive financial support to management through the preparation of forecasts, budgets, and business cases. You\'ll also ensure accurate financial reporting, enforce financial controls, and play a critical role in analysing financial trends and cost drivers that influence business strategy and operations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Diploma in Accounting (BCom in Accounting or equivalent qualification preferred).
  • 5–7 years’ experience in a similar Financial Controller role.
  • Proven experience and track record in:
    • Budgeting
    • Financial forecasting
    • Cost control
    • Management reporting
  • Experience with Qmuzik or other ERP/accounting software is an added advantage.

Key Technical Skills

  • Advanced computer literacy and strong MS Office capabilities.
  • Advanced numeracy and financial analysis skills.
  • Deep understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and management accounting principles.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Key responsibilities

1. Budget Compilation
  • Compile annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
  • Support CAPEX and OPEX planning with department heads.
  • Assist with annual overhead budgets.
  • Prepare and analyse cost forecasts with recommendations.
  • Track actual vs planned spending.
2. Financial Reporting
  • Generate all financial reports, including Actual vs Budget/Forecast.
  • Monthly cash flow reporting.
  • Deliver management accounts within 5 working days of month-end.
  • Prepare accurate weekly/monthly cash flow forecasts.
  • Address deviations in expenditure (<5%) with action plans.
3. Financial Control and Administration
  • Manage supplier requisitions and internal orders.
  • Maintain the asset register and manage asset acquisitions.
  • Schedule and monitor expenditures.
  • Provide variance analysis and initiate corrective actions.
  • Control spend on office and refreshment budgets.
  • Manage month-end finance queries and invoicing deadlines.
4. ERP System Management
  • Oversee month-end, half-year, and year-end financial processes.
  • Support auditors and perform account reconciliations.
  • Maintain invoicing timelines and ensure billing compliance.
  • Handle complex ERP structures including over 400 requisitions.
5. Contract Costing
  • Participate in offer cost calculations.
  • Maintain electronic documentation.
  • Produce monthly financial status reports on contracts.
6. Turnover/Cost of Sales
  • Analyse turnover and departmental overhead costs weekly/monthly.
  • Invoice contract milestones promptly and accurately.
