A leader in secondary power distribution solutions is seeking a Financial Controller in South Africa. You will manage the finance team, oversee financial reporting, and ensure compliance with tax regulations. This role requires at least 5 years of accounting experience and strong analytical skills. The successful candidate will report to the Group Finance Director and support decision-making at all levels.

Job context This is the lead financial role within LESA and will manage a local Finance Team.
Lucy Electric is a leader in secondary power distribution solutions with over years' industry experience, specialising in high-performance medium voltage switchgear for utility, industrial and commercial applications.
The role reports to the Group Finance Director with day-to-day reporting to the General Manager LESA.
Job dimensions Travel may be required abroad or within Southern Africa as needed.
Key accountabilities Financial reporting : analyse and review monthly results; perform variance analysis against current and prior year monthly results; prepare monthly management reports; provide support and strategic input to management; identify trends and provide improvement recommendations.
Financial control: responsibility for financial control and record keeping; develop financial control systems and procedures; manage year-end audit and relationships with local auditors; ensure integrity of inventory.
Financial planning : prepare quarterly profit, balance sheet and cash flow forecasts; prepare annual budget and coordinate management plan; input into Lucy Electric's medium-term strategic plan; manage funding and cash flow; analyze forecast and budget results; perform variance analysis against budget and prior year.
Treasury : responsible for foreign currency conversion (with Group Treasury); manage customer credit limits and cash collections; manage local banking relationships.
Tax : ensure compliance with local tax regulations; manage both direct and indirect taxes; collaborate with local tax specialist and liaise with Group Tax.
Business partnering : provide financial information and advice to support decision-making by CEO and local management; develop financial / operating management information; support sales tendering and financial reviews of key tenders and contracts; support outsourcing, cost control and other business initiatives; develop financial models; develop best practice and performance metrics; represent Finance in Microsoft D development; manage the Finance department and day-to-day staff management, including performance appraisals and employee development.
Other duties : undertake any other duties as required to maintain / improve efficiency, quality, and service.
Qualifications, experience & skills Essential Qualification : CA (SA) Education to degree level or equivalent Essential Experience : 5 years' accounting experience within a commercial and manufacturing business Strategic thinking; strong communication skills to convey financial data to non-financial staff Ability to produce management reports and present results in meetings Experience in analysing data for decision making; ability to communicate findings at all levels Ability to prioritise workload; document business procedures Strong Excel and financial modelling skills Excellent analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills; attention to detail Strong presentation skills; ability to influence and persuade Excellent verbal and written English Full driving licence Desirable : Knowledge of the electrical supply industry Knowledge and use of Microsoft D Sound IFRS knowledge Behavioural competencies Inspires Leads by example; influences others at all levels Articulates a clear vision; empowers and trusts team to solve problems Collaborates Works across the organization to deliver results; encourages challenge and new ideas Builds authentic working relationships; facilitates productivity Integrity Values culture; encourages diverse viewpoints; maintains a positive can-do attitude Transparency Communicates with clarity; open to feedback; coaches and develops talent Application Does this sound interesting?
