Job description

AltGen is looking for a Financial Analyst to join a renewable energy company based in Stellenbosch. The role will provide financial modelling, investment analysis and transaction support to the developing and financing of a project. The role will also play a role in evaluating project economics, structuring debt and equity financing and providing support for strategy implementation.

Responsibilities
  • Support in monitoring and forecasting cash positions across the group, including subsidiaries and SPVs
  • Liaise with local and international banks on treasury products, foreign exchange, guarantees, and letters of credit
  • Support the negotiation of banking facilities and project finance structures
  • Build, maintain, and optimize detailed project finance models to evaluate investment returns, funding requirements, and sensitivities
  • Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses to assess risks and impacts of key variables (e.g., tariff, capex, opex, financing structure)
  • Ensure models are consistent with project documentation (term sheets, financial agreements, EPC/O&M contracts)
  • Assist in structuring and negotiating debt and equity financing with lenders, investors, and other stakeholders
  • Support financial due diligence processes, including coordination with legal, technical, and insurance advisors
  • Prepare financial sections for investment committee papers and lender presentations.
  • Support financial close activities, including model audits, lender Q&A, and documentation review
  • Collaborate with business developers and engineers to evaluate project feasibility and support in the presentation of Investment opportunities
  • Provide business developers support in the preparation of credit assessment framework and project models submitted to investment committee
  • Provide administrative support to the investment committee, sharing of papers, keeping an up‑to‑date record and scheduling of investment committees as and when required
  • Provide financial input into bid submissions, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and equipment rental agreements
  • Analyse and benchmark project costs, market trends, and energy pricing
  • Track financial performance of operating assets versus budget and model forecasts
  • Update financial models post‑financial close to reflect actual performance and changes in assumptions
  • Support portfolio‑level reporting and valuation for management and shareholders
  • Monitor compliance of covenants across existing funding arrangements
  • Assist in capital structuring and portfolio optimization across multiple projects.
  • Contribute to corporate budgeting, funding forecasts, and shareholder reporting.
  • Assist in analysing M&A opportunities,
  • Supporting M&A due diligence processes, including coordination with financial, legal, technical, and insurance advisors.
Requirements
