Job description

Location: Sandringham – Johannesburg
Position Type: Full Time – Fixed Term (6 Months)

Purpose of the Job

To analyse relevant personal financial information in order to determine the financial needs of beneficiaries and present conclusion and related grant proposal to Case Committee on a weekly basis and provide feedback on the grant to beneficiaries and similarly for residential subsidy applicants.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Assess beneficiaries/applicants overall financial situation by reviewing income, assets, debts, expenses, credit reports, or other financial information.
  • Calculate beneficiaries’ available monthly income to meet financial obligations including debt.
  • Comfortably and respectfully engage with beneficiaries, in respect of both information gathering (pre-analysis) and provision of feedback (post-analysis).
  • Make recommendations to Case Committee (held weekly) on the basis of the above financial analysis as to whether financial assistance is justified, as well as the extent thereof or in the case of residential admissions to Admissions Committee, whether a fee subsidy is justified, and how the fee should be structured.
  • Consult with Social Workers in respect of consideration of non-financial factors in the decision-making process.
  • Consider all other relevant budgetary/financial feedback to the beneficiary/applicant.
  • Maintain or update records of beneficiaries/applicants including analysis, financial assistance being given, correspondence, documents, or beneficiary inquiries.
  • Review changes to beneficiaries/applicants financial, family, or employment situations to determine whether changes to existing welfare/assistance plans are needed, either pro‑actively or on request.
  • Manage grant renewals and resulting client communication.
  • Assist with ad‑hoc welfare data or other projects.
Qualifications And Education Requirements
  • B.Com degree with financial or similar major advantageous
  • Experience in a Financial Analyst, Financial Advisor, Credit Analyst, Personal Finance, or Debt Counsellor role
