Financial Accountant Operations (CA) (POS)

Location: Midrand

Salary: tot R per annum

Requirements
  • CA(SA) or CIMA designation
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in managing / supervising a team
  • At least 5 years' experience in an accounting role
  • Deadline-driven with ability to prioritise tasks
  • Language Skills: Portuguese speaking (advantageous)
  • International Experience: Cross-border / international experience - Middle East and Africa (advantageous)
  • Awareness of Competency-Based Assessment

  • Proficient in MS Office and databases and Advanced Excel Skills

Key Responsibilities
  • Full responsibility for accounting up to trial balance, including preparation of journal entries and posting of sundry ledger adjustments.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of South Africa and Mozambique balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with financial reporting standards.
  • Review monthly prepayments following the creditor supervisors review, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and clarity of supporting notes.
  • Coordinate with the finance team to ensure timely delivery of trial balances as per managements schedule.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the ERP system to effectively resolve team queries in a timely manner.
  • Intercompany and group accounting as required.
  • Oversee preparation of cross-border payments from South Africa, ensuring compliance with SARB and SARS requirements for advance and progress payments.
  • Supervise, mentor, and motivate up to three junior team members.
  • Evaluate and optimise finance processes and procedures.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of debtor and creditor ageing reports, focusing on long-outstanding items beyond the scope of the creditor supervisor and senior financial assistant.
  • Prepare VAT reconciliations monthly / bi-monthly, ensuring compliance across applicable group entities.
