Responsibilities

  • Compile and analyse Annual Financial Statements (AFS).
  • Submit tax packs and initiate lockdown procedures once financials are signed.
  • Perform tax planning and compliance for companies, close corporations, and trusts.
  • Prepare and deliver ratio analysis and financial trend reports.
  • Present financial findings to clients in a clear, value-adding manner.
  • Attend client meetings to discuss general business matters.
  • Address client queries telephonically or via email and document all responses.

Overview

Our client is looking for a Financial Accountant at Consultant Level who can independently manage a moderately complex client portfolio.

This role is focused on delivering high-quality accounting, tax, and compliance services while building strong client relationships.

The successful candidate will handle full accounting functions, including financial reporting, tax planning, and communication with regulatory bodies.

A high degree of autonomy, attention to detail, and proactive client engagement are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities
  • Independently manage a portfolio of moderately complex clients
  • Provide complete accounting services, from data entry to financial reporting
  • Prepare management accounts, budgets, and forecasts
  • Compile and analyse Annual Financial Statements (AFS)
  • Submit tax packs and initiate lockdown procedures once financials are signed
  • Perform tax planning and compliance for companies, close corporations, and trusts
  • Prepare and deliver ratio analysis and financial trend reports
  • Present financial findings to clients in a clear, value-adding manner
  • Attend client meetings to discuss general business matters
  • Address client queries telephonically or via email and document all responses
  • Maintain deep understanding of each client's business activities and challenges
  • Deliver accurate and timely statutory submissions, including VAT and ad hoc filings
  • Handle SARS queries, penalties, interest, refunds, and tax clearance applications
  • Liaise with internal teams, external auditors, and regulatory bodies as needed
  • Ensure partner / manager is informed of all client issues and receives required documentation promptly
Experience
  • 2–4 years' post-articles experience in an accounting firm or related role
  • Full accounting function experience
Qualifications
  • BCom or Honours Degree in Accounting or Financial Accounting
  • Completed or qualified SAICA, AGA, or SAIPA training contract
