Job summary

A finance consultancy in Cape Town is looking for a detail-oriented Financial Accountant at an Associate Level to manage client portfolios and ensure compliance in financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a BCom or Honours degree in Accounting and some experience in an accounting firm, along with a solid understanding of accounting principles. This role offers growth opportunities while working closely with senior accountants.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years' post-articles experience in an accounting firm or related environment.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a portfolio of clients.
• Maintain accounting records and ensure all compliance obligations are met.
• Compile and submit tax packs and initiate lock-down once financials are signed.
• Produce management accounts and budgets.
• Compile technically complete and compliant Annual Financial Statements (AFS).
• Perform tax computations for Companies, Close Corporations, and Trusts.
• Prepare and submit VAT and ad hoc statutory returns.
• Attend to SARS-related matters including penalties, interest, refunds, and tax clearance.
• Attend client meetings to discuss general business matters.
• Address queries via email or phone and document responses on file.
• Maintain knowledge of clients' business activities and challenges.
• Deliver regular, clear communication and value-added insights to clients.
• Ensure all monthly and statutory deadlines are met.
• Keep partners / managers informed of issues and submit required documentation promptly.
