Job Description:
- Financial Accounting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Manage the general ledger and ensure accuracy of all accounting entries
- Reconcile bank statements and maintain cash flow records
- Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Handle fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules
- Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting processes
- Wine Industry Specific:
- Track and account for harvest yields and production costs
- Manage inventory valuation for wine stock, including aging inventory
- Monitor costs associated with vineyard operations and maintenance
- Process excise duty calculations and payments
- Assist with wine export documentation and related financial records
- Maintain rigorous quality and food safety standards, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and continuously improve processes to consistently deliver safe, high-quality products
- Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and local accounting standards
- Prepare VAT returns and other statutory returns
- Assist with external audit preparations
- Maintain accurate records for wine industry compliance
- Support tax planning and preparation
- Operational Support:
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators
- Assist with costing analysis for different wine varieties
- Support pricing decisions with relevant financial data
- Help maintain internal control systems
- Provide financial analysis for management decision-making
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- Professional accounting qualification (advantageous)
- SAICA articles completed (preferred)
- Minimum 3-5 years accounting experience
- Knowledge of South African tax regulations and compliance requirements
- Understanding of wine industry regulations
