Financial Accountant Reference: JHB
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Financial Accountant.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accounts, forecasts, budgets, and financial control activities in accordance with established accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing general ledger and subordinate ledgers, performing account reconciliations, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of monthly and quarterly management accounts.
- Automotive / Manufacturing experience highly beneficial.
- Communication, Analysis and Reporting: Responsible for statutory accounting and for compliance with local legislation.
- Managing the Finance function, with AR, AP and FP&A tasks outsourced in shared services center.
- Process bank payments.
- Perform cost accounting (including participating in inventory counts).
- Prepare and submit financials and fiscal returns.
- Perform monthly / annual financial closing.
- Handle 3rd parties' confirmations.
- In charge of financial and fiscal audits.
- Ensure subordinate ledgers reconcile with the general ledger.
- Ensure all Balance Sheet reconciliations are complete and accurate with supporting documentation.
- Ensure all Tax returns are prepared accurately & reviewed then submitted on time.
- Comply with local legislation and accounting standards.
- Apply 7 Quality Basics rules.
- Familiarise with the client Health, Safety & Quality Policy statement.
- Identify improvement opportunities.
- Influence best practice and standardisation across company processes and projects.
- Adhere to Corrective and Preventive actions and report on effectiveness.
- Fully cooperate with Business Management System internal and external auditors during process, product and systems audits.
- Promote use of process approach and risk-based thinking.
- Assist in maintaining a safe working environment for all employees under Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations.
- Contribute to the effectiveness & efficiency of the Safety and Environmental Management System.
- Taking reasonable care for one's own and others workplace health & safety.
- Respond to actual emergency situations.
- Report all workplace hazards, incidents and near misses.
- Adhere to all HSE policies and procedures.
- Participate in the Safety Management Program when required, including regular training / toolbox talks.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified Accountant / BCom.
- Accounting / BCom Honours preferably.
- 5 years of accounting experience.
- 3 years of post-article experience.
- Experience with Syteline / Infor CloudSuite ERP software (highly beneficial).
