About the Role

We are seeking a highly capable Financial Accountant to oversee the accounting, reporting, and compliance functions across a portfolio of entities within a growing investment group.

The ideal candidate will be hands‑on, detail‑driven, and comfortable managing the full accounting cycle — from bookkeeping and VAT to drafting annual financial statements and coordinating with auditors.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and exposure to multiple industries, including property, private equity, and hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate accounting records for all entities on Xero.

Process and reconcile all transactions: invoices, payments, journals, and intercompany transfers.

Prepare monthly management accounts, trial balances, and supporting schedules.

Prepare and submit VAT returns bi‑monthly via SARS eFiling.

Ensure all reconciliations support VAT submissions and financial records.

Manage CIPC annual returns and Beneficial Ownership (UBO) declarations.

Assist with PAYE, provisional tax, and other SARS compliance tasks.

Prepare draft Annual Financial Statements (AFS) in line with IFRS for SMEs.

Collate audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

Liaise with external accountants and auditors during annual reviews.

Ensure all entities are audit‑ready and compliant throughout the year.

Maintain up‑to‑date records for all entities (registration details, VAT numbers, compliance calendars).

Standardise financial processes and chart of accounts across entities.

Monitor cash flow and assist management with forecasting and payment planning.

Implement and maintain internal financial controls.

Act as the main point of contact between management, external accountants, and SARS.

Support the Managing Director with financial insights, reports, and ad‑hoc analyses.

Assist in special projects including new entity setups, reorganisations, or due diligence exercises.

Qualifications

3–6 years' accounting experience, ideally across multiple entities or group structures.

Proficient in Xero Accounting Software.

Strong working knowledge of VAT, management accounts, and AFS preparation.

Familiarity with CIPC and SARS eFiling processes.

Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.

Experience with CaseWare or similar AFS software (advantageous).

Familiarity with FNB Enterprise Banking.

Understanding of IFRS for SMEs and South African compliance standards.

Remuneration

Salary Range: R25,—R40, per month (CTC), depending on experience and capability.
