Introduction

To ensure the implementation and maintenance of accounting best practices, within a financial environment to optimise financial performance of JSE.

Business and Financial Results Management

Manage debtors collection including multi-currency for a book value of R Million adhering to statutory requirement of International Financial Reporting Standards and GAAP

Ensure collections are received timeously to reduce risks regarding cash flow of JSE business

Review and identify cost-reduction opportunities to reduce JSE business costs that impact JSE business strategy

Stakeholder Relationship Management

Maintain and develop relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders by sharing information and providing customer service to ensure queries are addressed timeously.

Manage escalation of risk customers through communication with team to ensure that risk customers are identified and solutions are provided to avoid long term financial risks and problems

Build relationships with colleagues, peers and staff by using appropriate interpersonal styles

Interact with others in a way that promotes openness and trust and gives them confidence in one's intentions

Primary contact for managing and co‑ordinating queries and resolving concerns of external auditors and internal auditors with regard to Cashbook, Accounts payable and Accounts Receivable for the JSE Group

Process Management

Create and implement staff and resource plans to ensure that there is a clear work allocation and take accountability to deliver on the departmental / divisional strategy

Ensure accuracy and disclosures in the statutory reporting to ensure zero audit finding results that will impact the JSE business strategy in line with standards and regulations

Provide regular analysis of reports to internal stakeholders by communicating with stakeholders to meet stakeholder requirements

Implement financial process system controls through implementation and development of financial targets and automation of processes to minimise financial risks

Adhere to accounting policies and procedures for all areas of responsibility by maintaining a documented system

Review the back office function, support and review recons

Ensure costs are accurate and accruals and provisions are raised to complete monthly accruals, provisions and costs

Adhere to debtors controls and processes to ensure accurate debtors book management

Adhere to bad debt process controls to minimise bad debt write offs through timeous escalation of risk customers

Analyse and understand actual data within the accounting records to ensure completeness, accuracy and validity of the financial statements

Ensure creditors are paid timeously according to service level agreements through weekly reviews and reconciliations of creditors terms and conditions.

Reviewing and approving creditor payments, client refunds, forex payments and Interest payments

Ensure accruals and vendor invoices are communicated at month‑end to relevant financial accountants to raise accruals

Reviewing and posting monthly accruals, journal reallocations journals

Signing off balance sheet recons for Accounts payable and Accounts receivable

Reviewing and sign off of monthly supplier recons

Preparing the EXCO finance dashboard.

Reviewing the cost allocations, for telephone, printing and reimbursements, to ensure that costs are allocated to the correct GL and Cost Centre

Analysing credit cards, spend and posting the journals

Ensure accuracy of SOP's and RACM's for audit review

Sign off on any refunds made by Accounts Receivable and ensuring that all the relevant documentation is attached

Ensure month end reporting deadlines are adhered to

Team Management

Ensure all team members understand and support organisational and divisional strategy

Take accountability for making others successful by removing obstacles to team performance and success

Participate in recruitment processes to ensure selection contributing to success of team

Ensure on boarding process is followed for all new hires and transfers to embed the JSE values and cultures

Ensure self and team members has required skill and professional / technical expertise by assessing gaps and development areas and creating development plans

Ensure each team member has a job profile that profiles team member with a view of full performance in the job

Create performance agreement for each team member with measurable goals and objectives so that they understand how their performance will be viewed, recognised and rewarded

Conduct performance review sessions with team members to review performance and progress against targets and agree on appropriate action required to meet targets or standards

Engaged with team in such a way that the feel motivated to achieve better performance feel respects and diversity valued

Epitomise living the JSE way and keep team accountable for displaying the values in their behaviour

Transformation and Innovation Management

Support implementation of business optimisation improvement through team engagement

Encourage innovation, listen and act upon ideas from team and provided technical / expert contribution

Meet EE / BEE targets as related to team through appropriate recruitment selection decisions

Postgraduate degree in Accounting would be desirable

Minimum 3 – 5 years' experience in a contract management function
