The role offers broad exposure across accounting, reporting, cash flow, compliance and financial planning. It would suit either a qualified accountant with completed articles or a strong hands‑on accountant/bookkeeper with solid SME experience and proven exposure to management reporting.
Duties / Key Responsibilities
- Manage accounting processes through to trial balance.
- Process monthly journals and assist with month‑end and year‑end close.
- Complete bank, balance sheet, customer and supplier reconciliations.
- Maintain the fixed asset register.
- Prepare or assist with management accounts and monthly financial reports.
- Support directors and management with financial information and reporting.
- Assist with cash flow reporting, projections and financial planning.
- Prepare VAT reconciliations and support VAT submissions.
- Assist with EMP201, EMP501 and other statutory submissions.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documents for tax and audit requirements.
- Monitor debtors and creditors and assist with collections and payments.
- Allocate receipts and payments accurately.
- Compile audit files and assist with ad hoc finance projects.
- Present financial information professionally when required in management or board meetings.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and the full accounting cycle.
- Experience preparing management accounts, financial reports or financial statements.
- Exposure to VAT, payroll, taxation and audits.
- Experience with cash flow reporting, projections or financial planning would be highly beneficial.
- Comfortable working closely with business owners, directors or senior management.
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience working across multiple companies or entities would be advantageous.
- Sage 50, Sage Pastel, CaseWare, Draftworx or similar accounting software would be beneficial.
Education
Two profiles will be considered:
- An accounting degree with completed SAICA or SAIPA articles; or
- Strong practical experience managing the full bookkeeping/accounting function in a small to medium‑sized business.
For candidates with extensive relevant experience, a degree would be advantageous rather than essential.

Salary
