Payment24 is seeking a Financial Accountant to join our finance team and support the group's financial control, compliance, and reporting responsibilities. We're a fast-growing global fintech platform specialising in secure, scalable, and innovative solutions for fuel, fleet, and payment technologies.

Key Responsibilities
Banking & Treasury
  • Download and import daily bank statements into Sage.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and maintain the cashbook.
  • Clear reconciling items promptly and ensure accurate posting.
  • Support foreign and local payment processing and currency rate tracking.
Financial Control & Month-End
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries (accruals, prepayments, payroll, forex).
  • Reconcile all balance sheet control accounts each month.
  • Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register (additions, disposals, depreciation).
  • Support the month-end close and assist in management reporting.
VAT, PAYE & Statutory Compliance
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns with full reconciliations.
  • Prepare PAYE (EMP) workings and ensure all submissions are accurate and timely.
  • Assist with provisional and annual income tax preparation (working papers, schedules, reconciliations).
  • Identify and document permanent and temporary tax adjustments (e.g., non-deductible expenses, depreciation differences).
  • Maintain SARS correspondence and compliance records.
Tax & Audit Support
  • Prepare tax computation working papers to support external accountants.
  • Reconcile tax payable accounts to the general ledger.
  • Pile audit packs and respond to auditor queries.
  • Ensure all reconciliations and supporting documentation are audit-ready.
Compliance & Reporting
  • Compile and maintain financial evidence schedules for compliance audits.
  • Monitor statutory deadlines across all finance functions.
  • Ensure accounting policies and internal controls are consistently applied.
Finance Process Improvement
  • Recommend and assist in implementing process improvements to strengthen efficiency and control.
  • Support system enhancements within Sage and related reporting tools.
