VP of Finance & Operations – Venture Capital | Cape Town | Remote

My client is now looking for their first VP of Finance & Operations — someone to be the operational and financial backbone of the business, and a key driving force as they scale. You’ll take full ownership of finance and operations, from fund reporting and compliance to running internal processes and supporting data‑driven portfolio decisions.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the fund model — budgeting, cash flow, and forecasting
• Managing fund accounting, audits, tax, and compliance
• Providing liquidity insights and analysis to support portfolio decisions
• Overseeing entity management and keeping everything running efficiently
• Managing treasury, banking, FCA compliance, and key stakeholder relationships
• Coordinating deal execution from end to end
• Supporting portfolio financial functions and fundraising processes
• Supporting LP reporting and fundraising strategy for future funds

Qualifications

• Qualified CA(SA)
• 3+ years in a top‑tier accounting firm (Big Four or similar) plus 2+ years in venture capital, private equity, or a high‑growth startup environment
• Strong comfort with audit processes, compliance, and fund administration
• Excellent judgement and communication skills — able to distil complexity and influence decisions
• High‑performance finance leader with a founder’s mindset
