Overview

Our client:

  • Is a Citrus and Macadamia producer and exporter, based in the Limpopo Province.
Purpose of the role
  • To support the company's sustainable profitability through the operational management of the company’s financial accounting, compliance, governance, administration, reporting, analysis and control systems and processes across all divisions. The role reports to the CEO.
Financial Planning and Budget Management
  • Preparing the company's annual budget and funding facility review in collaboration with divisional managers and CEO.
Financial Accounting Management
  • Management of all the company’s financial accounting policies, processes and systems according to audit requirements and GAAP principles to ensure sound governance, compliance and accurate record keeping.
  • Reviewing all financial transactions and signing off journals and GL recons.
  • Producing monthly management accounts and financial reports; managing financial year-end processes.
Operational Financial Management
  • Monthly analysis and review with divisional managers and CEO of variances on actual vs forecasted operational income and expenditure accounts against budget.
  • Providing procurement-, financial decision- and feasibility evaluation support.
  • Management of all supplier and service provider payments.
  • Management of the company's cash flow requirements.
  • Management and review of the company's property and house rental agreements.
Financial Risk Management and Compliance
  • Preparation, management and completion of the companies and related group companies’ annual external financial audit.
  • Management of all SARS related matters including VAT, dividend tax and income tax in order to ensure compliance.
  • Management and annual review of the company's short term insurance portfolio to ensure adequate risk cover.
  • Management and review of the company's foreign currency risk mitigation strategy.
  • Management of the company's Risk Register for Board review.
People, Process and Systems Management
  • Management, evaluation and development of the financial accounting and administration team to ensure performance, growth and workplace satisfaction.
  • Periodic review of all financial management, accounting and administration processes, systems and software to ensure accuracy, efficiency and scalability.
Tertiary requirements and personal attributes
  • Relevant tertiary degree in finance as a requirement, with economics or business management as added considerations.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in financial management, accounting and administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate in an Executive Management team and operate at a Board level.
  • Experience working with accounting software.
  • Suitable experience in an agricultural business will be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all financial management and accounting processes, systems, standards and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of company tax and other SARS requirements.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements pertaining to the company.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of financial statements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail orientated with a commitment to accuracy and integrity.
  • Ability to manage and develop people.
