Job description
Overview
  • Ensuring that the statement of financial position and statement of financial performance areas relating to factory finance and costing & management accounting areas is fairly represented.
  • Oversee and manage the factory finance and costing & management accounting functions
  • Guide and oversee the implementation and management of costing, accounting and other financial policies and processes within the company
  • Provide operational financial guidance to direct subordinates and to factory management teams, driving financial objectives within facilities
  • Oversee and consolidate accurate and timeous reporting for management and strategic decision-making
Responsibilities
Planning, Policies and Systems
  • Review and manage the implementation of aligned and compliant financial policies and procedures
  • Oversee costing policies, systems and methods, ensuring integrity, accuracy and security of costing tables and data
Operational Management
  • Review and sign off on financial reports, forecasts, budgets etc.
  • Manage the annual budget in a manner that ensures alignment with operational plan
  • Recommend system and process improvements for SA Operations
  • Recommend, initiate and co‑coordinate value added projects
  • Review and approve commercial evaluations, RFQs/RFPs and standard cost
  • Align factory and marketing cost‑saving initiatives and identify cost reduction and efficiency improvement opportunities
Financial Management
  • Manage the annual budget and forecasts, ensuring that preparations meet the guidelines and instructions and align with the operational plan
  • Ensure validity, accuracy and completeness of financial information
  • Review reconciliation of balance sheet accounts against the ledger
Audit and Risk Management
  • Review, assess and guide mitigation of all concerns and risks raised
  • Set up effective processes to ensure optimum risk assessment, feasibility assessment and planning are implemented
Unit Management
  • Provide technical and operational input during drafting of the SA
  • Operations strategy and operational objectives
  • Guide operational planning and advise on prioritisation of activities
  • Provide input into budgets and resource requirements for unit
  • Request and allocate assets and resources for the fulfilment of work objectives and monitor their use
  • Provide unit staff with day‑to‑day direction and tasks
Requirements
Background/experience
  • Chartered Accountant CA (SA) or equivalent preferred
  • 6 to 8 years’ relevant experience in a financial management environment
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and in the management of staff
Specific Job Skills
  • Computer literacy: proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and a fully integrated ERP system
