Role Overview

The Finance Manager – Wetility Finance is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of Wetility Finance, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial analysis. Additionally, this role includes Strategic Investments and Portfolio Management responsibilities, focusing on identifying growth opportunities, managing investment portfolios, and ensuring optimal capital allocation. This position reports directly to the Managing Director of Wetility Finance while maintaining a dual reporting line to Group Finance for consolidation and Centre of Excellence (COE) expertise.

The role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, financial acumen, and the ability to operate in a fast‑paced, innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Management and Reporting

    Oversee the financial operations of Wetility Finance, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports. Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to senior management and the Board. Monitor key financial metrics and KPIs, providing insights and recommendations for improvement. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and maintain effective internal controls. Coordinate with Group Finance for financial consolidation and reporting to the executive leadership team. Oversee billing processes, debit orders, and collections to optimize cash flow and revenue recognition.

  2. Budgeting, Forecasting, and Financial Planning

    Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and business plans. Conduct variance analysis and provide actionable insights to senior management. Develop and maintain financial models to support decision‑making and strategic planning. Support strategic planning initiatives by providing scenario analysis and financial projections.

  3. Strategic Investments and Portfolio Management

    Develop and execute the strategic investment framework for Wetility Finance, ensuring alignment with the company's growth strategy. Identify and evaluate investment opportunities, including mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships. Conduct financial due diligence and valuation analysis for potential investments. Manage and optimize the investment portfolio, ensuring optimal capital allocation and risk management. Monitor and evaluate portfolio performance, implementing strategies for value enhancement and risk mitigation. Prepare and present investment proposals and business cases to senior management and the Board.

  4. Treasury, Cash Management, and Internal Controls

    Oversee treasury functions, including cash flow management, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization. Ensure the implementation of robust internal controls to safeguard financial assets and mitigate risks. Report on cash management activities, ensuring visibility of cash flow and capital requirements to the Group Finance Manager. Manage relationships with banks, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to optimize financing and cash flow strategies. Implement policies and procedures to enhance financial discipline and governance.

  5. Risk Management and Compliance

    Ensure compliance with financial regulations and maintain effective risk management practices. Identify and assess financial risks related to investments and portfolio management, developing mitigation strategies. Oversee audits and liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies.

  6. Team Leadership and Collaboration

    Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including Strategy, Product, and Operations, to support strategic initiatives. Provide guidance on financial best practices and ensure the team's alignment with business objectives.

Key Requirements
Education and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. CA(SA), CFA, or CIMA qualification preferred. An MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is advantageous.

Experience

3-5 years of experience in accounting, finance management, strategic investments, and portfolio management, preferably within the renewable energy, fintech, or investment sectors. Proven track record in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial analysis. Experience in investment evaluation, financial due diligence, and portfolio management. Strong background in financial modelling and valuation analysis.

Skills and Competencies

Strategic mindset with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Proficiency in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forecasting tools. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders. High attention to detail and organizational skills.
