Job summary

Kabstrading Co is seeking a network design professional to lead FTTH/FTTB design initiatives, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to standards. You will translate demand into buildable capacity plans and work with Civils, Rollout Operations and Survey teams to validate routes.

As part of the role, you will conduct quality checks on junior planners’ work, liaise with municipal stakeholders, and drive performance improvements across projects.

Responsibilities

• Network Design & Planning – Produce high-level and low-level designs for fibre networks (FTTH/FTTB) prioritising existing assets.
• Documentation & Build Support – Create splice diagrams, route plans and pole/duct schedules; keep GIS and as-built records.
• Capacity & Demand Planning – Translate area demand forecasts into buildable capacity plans and reinforcement needs.
• Quality & Governance – Apply network design standards and conduct reviews and quality checks on junior planners’ work.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work with Civils, Rollout Operations and Survey teams; liaise with municipal stakeholders.
• Performance Management – Monitor outcomes and drive improvements.

Job description

• Network Design & Planning – Produce and optimise High-Level and Low-Level Designs for FTTH, FTTB and carrier-grade fibre networks, prioritising the use of existing assets before defining new build.
• Documentation & Build Support – Create accurate splice diagrams, route plans and pole/duct utilisation schedules. Maintain GIS and as-built records so that documentation reflects the network as constructed.
• Capacity & Demand Planning – Translate area-level demand forecasts into buildable capacity plans and identify network reinforcement requirements ahead of demand.
• Quality & Governance – Apply Ilitha's network design standards and industry best practice. Conduct design reviews and quality checks on the work of junior planners.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work closely with Civils, Rollout Operations and Survey teams to validate route feasibility. Liaise with municipal and wayleave stakeholders where required.
