Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Fiber Network Planner to join our Durban operations team. You will lead site surveys, route planning, and design of fiber optic networks, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards to enable high-speed internet expansion throughout the region.

You will prepare plans, cost estimates, and materials, coordinating with contractors and authorities to deliver networks on schedule.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Engineering, Geomatics, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in fiber optic network planning or design.
• Proficiency with GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and CAD tools.
• Strong spatial reasoning and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to conduct field surveys and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed site surveys to identify optimal routes for fiber optic cable deployment in and around Durban.
• Design fiber network layouts, including splicing plans, conduit pathways, and termination points, using specialized planning software.
• Prepare detailed project plans, cost estimates, and material lists for new network builds.
• Ensure all network designs comply with industry standards, local regulations, and permit requirements.
• Liaise with internal teams, external contractors, and local authorities to facilitate network construction.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date network maps and databases.
