Job Description

Location: Centurion, Gauteng, South Africa

Salary: R12 000 – R15 000 per month

Position details: Busy restaurant in Irene Centurion is looking for a junior front of house manager with experience in a busy restaurant environment and extensive knowledge of restaurant floor management. The role requires 3+ years of management experience in sit-down restaurants, strong communications skills, and exceptional customer relations. References must be contactable. Experience with restaurant administration and cash-ups is required. Duties include staff management, stock control, opening and closing procedures. The candidate should work well in a front of house team, under pressure, and be ambitious, self-motivated, and energetic. 2 days off per week, 4x 12 hour shifts and 1x 8 hour shift.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operational Management: Oversee daily operations of the restaurant including dining, kitchen, and bar areas; ensure service and hygiene standards; manage bookings, floor planning, and flow of service; manage a team of 40+ employees across front and back of house; recruit, train, and evaluate staff; foster a positive culture focused on accountability and service excellence.
  • GP/COGS & Inventory: Analyse GP on F&B, work with kitchen/procurement to manage COGS, enforce inventory controls, align menu pricing to targets, negotiate supplier terms, and report GP performance monthly.
  • Process & SOPs: Develop, enforce, and audit SOPs to streamline service and kitchen processes, improve efficiency, and ensure profitability.
  • Customer Service & Brand Standards: Maintain high guest satisfaction, handle feedback professionally, and uphold brand standards across touchpoints.

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience as a General Manager or in a senior leadership role in a high-volume restaurant.
  • Deep understanding of restaurant financials, especially Gross Profit (GP), COGS, and inventory control.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Knowledge of POS, inventory, and restaurant management software.
