A fruit farming company in Northern Cape is seeking an experienced farm manager to oversee daily production and ensure quality and labour management. The ideal candidate has over 10 years of farming experience, including 3 years in a management role. Responsibilities include managing production systems, maintaining quality standards, and collaborating with suppliers. Excellent leadership and communication skills are essential, along with fluency in Afrikaans and English.
Position Location : Northern CapePlease note that you will be working on our farm, Vuursteenkop, in Augrabies, in the Northern Cape, and not from the Star South Fruits office in Wellington, Western Cape.Experience & KnowledgeRelevant tertiary qualificationMinimum 10 years' experience in farming, with at least 3 years at management levelProven track record of successfully managing production and labourSufficient experience in the production of table grapesExtensive technical knowledge of chemistry, fertilisation and irrigationExperience in managing a packhouse effectivelyStrong knowledge of quality management systems, labour relations, food safety and export requirementsComputer literate, especially with Excel, DFM Utilities and PaltrackMust be fluent in Afrikaans and EnglishCharacteristicsSelf-driven, energetic person with visionAble to work under pressureExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong leadership skills – ability to manage, direct, motivate and train employeesHands-on and practicalProblem solverSelf-disciplined – must be able to work without supervision while meeting the set targetsJob DescriptionManage daily farm production aligned to the strategic plans of senior managementPerform tasks independently and meticulously on chemistry, fertilisation and irrigation at the right stage of developmentManage relationships with suppliers effectivelyResponsible for all labour-related matters and ensuring labour is effectively managedManage packhouse effectively in terms of quality, quantity and financial implicationsMake contributions regarding financial planning and work within budgetMaintain effective quality management system to ensure all products are up to standard, MRLs are not exceeded and are of good internal qualityMaintenance of mechanical equipment and infrastructureMaintain data integrity and manage systems (i.e. keeping information up to date) that are associated with audits such as Global GAP, SIZA etc.Any other relevant functions as reasonably requiredRemunerationMarket Related, Depending On Experience And QualificationsApplicationsPlease send your CV and cover letter, including salary expectation, to
