Role Description
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Factory Manager Assistant to join our dynamic manufacturing team at our Johannesburg facility. This critical role ensures smooth daily operations across production, stock control, and coordination functions. The successful candidate will work closely with the Factory Manager to maintain efficient production processes, ensure workflow optimization, and uphold our commitment to safety and quality standards.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong supervisory capabilities, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining composure and delivering results.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Shift Supervision:
- Supervise shift operations and oversee raw material clerk activities to ensure smooth production flow
- Monitor and verify production output, tracking scrap, rejects, and sprues for quality control
- Convert raw material measurements (Kg to units) and maintain accurate, up-to-date log sheets
- Address operational challenges proactively and implement solutions to minimize downtime
Stock & Inventory Management:
- Enter raw materials into stock management system with precision and accuracy
- Conduct weekly raw material counts and inventory reconciliation to maintain stock integrity
- Order and manage shrink wrap, raw materials, and packaging supplies to prevent shortages
- Collaborate with procurement and warehouse teams to optimize inventory levels
Production Coordination:
- Coordinate blow moulding operations and communicate production priorities effectively
- Manage and prioritize shrink packaging operations to meet production schedules
- Supervise regrinding department staff and generate purchase orders for stock entry
- Work with team members across departments to ensure production goals are achieved
Operations & Assembly Support:
- Issue products to assembly lines, including knocking, male adaptors, extension boxes, inspection of components, spacer bars, saddles, and bulkheads
- Manage bought-out components and plastic bag inventory efficiently
- Liaise with production scheduling teams and coordinate re-issues with relevant departments
- Maintain compliance with safety standards and quality protocols at all time
Requirements
Essential:
- Minimum 2-5 years of proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Strong supervisory and people management skills with ability to motivate teams
- Exceptional organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail
- Proficiency with stock management systems and inventory control software
- Demonstrated ability to work with production schedules and coordinate across multiple Departments
- Strong numerical skills for material conversions, calculations, and data analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to oversee shift operations, including night shifts as required
- Computer literacy (MS Office, ERP/stock management systems)
Advantageous:

- Knowledge of quality management systems and safety regulations
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field
