Job description

Our client based in Durbanville is looking for a full time FACTORY (Manufacturing/Production) FOREMAN at their Hollowcore Precast division.

This position reports to the Factory Manager. We are the supplier of precast elements to the building/construction industry. This position will suit an energetic go-getter, who will be able to run an 18-hour operational factory with a staff compliment of 50, 6 days a week.

Responsibilities not limited to
  • Supervision / monitoring of factory operations to ensure productivity, quality, and safety
  • Planning & casting as well as lane stripping
  • Management and communication to ensure that supervisors, operators and labourers understand the requirements of the daily tasks which have been assigned to them
  • Make sure deliveries are send on time
  • Attend to line performance issues: Determine where bottle necks occur, attend to break downs, walk the lines daily to check process control, check lists are accurately completed
  • Ensure machines are continuously cleaned and inspected at the start and end of each shift
  • Report any maintenance issues immediately and assist with break downs
Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 8 years’ relevant experience either in a similar role or as construction foreman at a reputable construction company
  • Knowledge of concrete, formwork, reinforcing steel and pre-tension steel
  • Preferred knowledge of mechanical equipment including concrete batch plant, saw cutting machines, hydraulic jacks and overhead cranes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Deadline and programme driven – ability to adhere to time programmes
  • Accurate work under pressure
Salary and benefits
  • This position offers a market related salary – dependent on qualifications and previous experience.
  • Employees become members of a provident fund after their 3-month probation period.
  • The annual close down is in December/January during the builder’s holiday.
  • Working hours are from 07:00 to 17:30, but only until 15:00 on a Friday.
