Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Facilities Manager – Data Centers to oversee and manage critical facility operations within high‑compliance environments. The successful candidate will ensure uninterrupted service delivery, compliance with industry standards, and optimal performance of all infrastructure supporting data centres and other sensitive environments. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in facilities and infrastructure management, and the ability to coordinate cross‑functional teams and service providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilities Operations & Maintenance
  • Oversee day‑time operations of data centre facilities, ensuring uptime and reliability.
  • Manage maintenance schedules for HVAC, electrical systems, UPS, generators, and other critical infrastructure.
  • Coordinate specialist cleaning and hygiene protocols to maintain compliance in sensitive environments.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure adherence to ISO standards, GMP requirements, health and safety regulations, and data centre compliance frameworks.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to minimise downtime and contamination risks.
  • Prepare compliance reports and documentation for audits and client requirements.
  • Vendor & Contractor Management
  • Manage third‑party service providers and contractors, ensuring SLA delivery and cost‑effectiveness.
  • Oversee tender processes and evaluate proposals for facility‑related services.
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as the key point of contact for data centre clients and corporate facilities teams.
  • Communicate performance metrics, compliance outcomes, and improvement initiatives to senior stakeholders.
  • Support client onboarding and ensure seamless operational integration.
  • Strategic Facility Planning
  • Develop and implement long‑term maintenance and infrastructure strategies.
  • Benchmark industry best practices to enhance Digiclean's service offering.
  • Provide input into budgeting, sustainability initiatives, and technology upgrades.
Requirements
  • years' experience in facilities management, with a strong focus on data centres or other high‑compliance environments.
  • Proven track record in managing critical infrastructure operations (HVAC, UPS, power, fire protection, and environmental controls).
  • Deep knowledge of ISO standards, GMP protocols, health and safety legislation, and data centre compliance frameworks.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging corporate facilities managers and data centre operators.
  • Excellent organisational, reporting, and leadership capabilities.
  • Commercial acumen to manage budgets, contracts, and vendor performance.
Contract Terms
  • Type: Consultancy / Fixed‑Term Contractor (performance‑driven outcomes).
  • Duration: 12 months, with option to extend subject to performance.
  • Remuneration: Competitive retainer + performance incentives.
  • Location: Midrand‑based, with travel across South Africa as required.
