Job summary

WSP in Africa, based in Midrand, is seeking a Façade Engineer to join our Property & Buildings Structures team. You will design, engineer, document, and support construction for building envelope systems, ensuring safe, durable and energy-efficient façade solutions.

You will collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to translate design intent into practical façade solutions and support complex, high-impact projects across commercial, industrial, or mixed-use sectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering.
• 3–8 years’ experience in façade or building envelope engineering.
• Experience on commercial/industrial/mixed-use buildings.
• Knowledge of façade materials (glass, aluminium, steel, composites).
• Understanding of building physics (thermal, moisture, acoustics).
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, and structural analysis tools.
• Knowledge of façade performance standards and wind loading codes.
• Strong coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication; able to work in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop façade concepts aligned with architectural intent and project requirements.
• Perform structural analysis of façade systems including wind loads, seismic effects, and thermal movement.
• Design façade systems including curtain walls, cladding, and glazing.
• Evaluate façade performance across thermal, acoustic, fire, and weatherproofing.
• Select materials considering durability, sustainability, constructability.
• Coordinate façade design with architects, structural, and MEP engineers.
• Prepare detailed drawings, calculations, and technical specifications.
• Support tender processes including reviewing contractor submissions.
• Provide construction support including site inspections and resolving technical issues.
• Define and review façade testing requirements including mock-ups and performance testing.
• Identify and mitigate risks such as water ingress and detailing defects.

A Little More About Your Role

We are looking for a Façade Engineer to join our Property & Buildings Structures team in Midrand. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, engineering, documentation, and construction support of building envelope systems, ensuring façade solutions are safe, durable, energy-efficient, and compliant with project requirements.

You will act as a key interface between architects, engineers, and construction teams, translating design intent into practical, buildable façade solutions.

You will

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
