Job summary

A leading company in the food manufacturing sector in Gauteng is seeking an experienced production manager. The role involves overseeing the production cycle, implementing quality standards, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. Candidates must have a Grade 12 qualification and a minimum of 5 years' experience in an extrusion plant operation. Key attributes include strong leadership and problem-solving skills, alongside relevant certifications.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in an extrusion plant operation (FMCG / Food Manufacturing / Agricultural sector).
  • Pest Control Fumigation Certificate from an accredited training provider.
  • DAFF Certification (p-number).
  • Structural Pest Control (Commercial & Domestic).
  • Fumigation – Bag, Bulk & Structure.
  • GFSI training certificate or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Safety certificates: OHS Safety Rep.
  • First Aid, Fire Fighting, Working at Heights, Confined Spaces, Forklift Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support the full production cycle from raw material intake to finished product dispatch.
  • Implement and uphold the company's Continuous Improvement Process (CIP).
  • Ensure product and packing efficiency, quality, and profitability, with a focus on waste reduction and environmental goals.
  • Enforce a strict zero‑tolerance pest control policy and maintain hygiene standards.
  • Monitor equipment efficiency, lifespan, and maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance.
  • Support staff management across their lifecycle in the organization (hire to retire).
  • Ensure a safe, compliant, and productive work environment.
  • Assist with budgeting, cost control, and loss control accountability.
  • Guarantee all products meet customer, company, food safety, and legal specifications.
