Job summary

Sasol is seeking an experienced assembler to join the Regional Operations and Asset Services team at Ekandustria, Gauteng. You will assemble electric initiation systems on a manual assembly machine and perform the required quality checks to meet customer specifications.

The role requires Grade 12, an eye for detail, and the ability to work full shifts with overtime. Experience in explosives manufacturing or Water Gel-CBS is advantageous, and you will maintain a safe, compliant workspace.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 qualification; Maths and Science will be an advantage.
• 12+ months experience in explosives manufacturing.
• Experience with Water Gel-CBS is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Testing of e-boards.
• Soldering to wire and crimping and blocking.
• Assemble safe start product by soldering and crimping to the cable assembly.
• Do quality checks on assembled products to ensure they meet customer requirements.
• Do stock count on the raw materials in the production area.
• Bundle, count and pack assembled units per lot traveller requirements.
• General housekeeping inside the assembly area.
• Measure specifications using tools (e.g. Vernier caliper) and record on the lot traveller.
• Adjust equipment settings per product specs on the lot traveller.
• Report daily production and breakdowns; update production graphs.

Purpose of Job

To assemble electric initiation systems on a manual assembly machine.

Key Accountabilities

• Testing of the e-boards
• Soldering (to the wire)
• Crimping and blocking
• Packaging
• Assemble safe start product by soldering and crimping to the cable assembly.
• Do quality checks on assembled products to ensure that all units meet specified customer requirements.
• Do stock count on all the raw materials in the production area.
• Bundle, count and pack assembled units in boxes according to specified requirements as stipulated on the lot traveller
• General housekeeping inside the assembly area.
• Do measurements of specifications using relevant measuring tools and capture information on the lot traveller e.g. Vernier calliper.
• Adjust the settings of the equipment/machine according to the specific product specifications as indicated on the lot traveller
• Operators are also required to report on daily production and breakdowns
• Manually updating production graphs after daily production on the wall next to each production cell.

Formal Education
