Job summary

Placements24 in East London, Eastern Cape, seeks an Exploration Geologist to help identify new resources and integrate seismic, well, and core data to build robust geological models. Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology or related Earth Science.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in exploration geology, preferably within the oil and gas sector.
• Proficiency in geological interpretation software and database management.
• Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and sedimentary basin analysis.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex geological information.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geological mapping and basin analysis to identify prospective areas for exploration.
• Integrate seismic, well logs, core data, and geochemical analyses.
• Develop and refine geological models to characterize subsurface structures and stratigraphy.
• Evaluate exploration prospects, assess geological risk, and estimate potential resource volumes.
• Collaborate with geophysicists to optimize seismic interpretation and target definition.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for exploration strategies and drilling campaigns.
