Job summary

Badger & Bird Talent is seeking an Executive Program Director to lead a multi-million Rand migration from a legacy enterprise footprint to a modern replacement architecture. The role is based in Rosebank, Johannesburg with a hybrid model and a strong on-site presence required for executive governance sessions.

You will work directly with the CEO, leading steering committees, managing C-level stakeholders, and delivering the program on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• 10+ Years in Senior Program Command with proven track record of large-scale migrations.
• Banking ecosystem knowledge including governance and data security.
• Ability to manage blended teams of internal staff, system integrators and vendors.

Package: R2,200,000 – R2,500,000 CTC

The ChallengeA Tier-1 South African bank is burning millions on an legacy enterprise footprint that simply is not delivering the expected ROI. On top of the inflated licensing costs, vendor lock-in is actively stalling their agility. The decision has been made from the top: strip out the legacy platform, isolate the footprint, and migrate to a modern replacement architecture without disrupting the business.

This is where you come in. Working as the primary operational delivery partner alongside the CEO, you will take direct command of this multi-million Rand transformation.

What You Need to Deliver

• 10+ Years in Senior Program Command: A proven track record of delivering R50m+ enterprise platform migrations or legacy off-boardings within Tier-1 South African Banking or Insurance.
• Banking Ecosystem Knowledge: Deep familiarity with South African banking governance, SARB compliance, data security standards, and enterprise cutover protocols.
• Stakeholder & Vendor Mastery: The gravitas to manage blended teams of internal bank IT personnel, system integrators, and third-party vendors while holding everyone accountable to hard KPIs.
• On-Site Presence: Based in Johannesburg, with the ability to maintain a strong physical presence in Rosebank for crucial steering committees, delivery crunches, and team alignments.
