Role Purpose

The Executive Head: Technology FBP is accountable for delivering the financial support requirements of the Vodacom Technology Business unit under their supervision, namely: Engineering (ANE, Tx, Core), VSA IT, ASOC, Cyber, and VFS tech. The core purpose is to manage a team of finance professionals to orchestrate and deliver accurate and timely financial outputs.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Planning – Support technology functions in compiling the DB and monthly forecasts, ensure strategic and operational objectives are reflected, coordinate with BUs for capital allocation and CAPEX reviews.
  • Target Management and Control – Synchronise functional plans with the LRP and Annual Budget, deliver consolidated budgets, monitor senior management performance targets, and input to central FP&A.
  • Management Reporting – Deliver consolidated financial information, enhance reporting frameworks, provide management information, track strategic objectives, and support EXCO and board submissions.
  • Business Intelligence – Facilitate insightful management information, prepare dashboards and automated reports to improve efficiencies.
  • Operational Support and Control – Analyse operational expenditure and savings protection, support technology domain heads on budget management.
  • Key Stakeholder Support – Provide support to a wide range of internal customers beyond primary stakeholders.
Typical Outputs
  • Executive and board reporting – Prepare financial analysis and commentary, trend and variance analysis, actionable insight, and recommendations.
  • Monthly operational reporting – Maintain and enhance monthly operational reporting, track business unit objectives, and key financial performance.
  • Financial planning – Deliver challenging financial plans, prepare the LRP, annual budget, financial plan reviews, and manage interface with central FP&A.
  • Operating expense control – Maintain an effective operational control environment, identify weaknesses, and develop solutions.
The Ideal Candidate
  • MBA with finance specialisation and experience.
  • CA(SA) or finance equivalent at honours or master’s level.
  • Mobile Technology experience (advantageous).
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a finance role with reporting and FP&A experience (Essential).
  • Thorough understanding of Telecommunications/ technology company operating model and financial management requirements (Essential).
  • Proven team leadership and management experience with a track record of building high performance teams.
Technical / Professional Expertise
  • Strong Technology Management Finance experience.
  • Proven track record of managing key relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Exposure to working with Senior Management teams and a proven ability to influence and build relationships at a senior level across different territories.
  • Good understanding of multiple financial disciplines, including overall reporting, accounting and budgeting processes.
  • Able to play a leading role in reporting financial results to interested parties.
  • Has the experience to identify key improvements to the reporting process.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Seasoned experience gained in finance within large, multi-national organization.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced levels of experience in financial and business analysis.
  • Experience in strategic financial planning.
