Purpose of the role

We are looking for a dedicated Estate and Grounds Manager to oversee the maintenance and development of our property and grounds. This role is essential for ensuring a safe, attractive, and well-functioning environment for our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the maintenance and upkeep of the estate, including buildings, systems, and grounds.
  • Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program to ensure optimal facility performance.
  • Supervise and train groundskeeping and maintenance staff, ensuring high standards of work.
  • Plan and oversee landscaping projects and seasonal maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain budgets for both maintenance operations and landscaping activities.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and service providers as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across all operations.
  • Collaborate with school/event staff to prepare facilities for events and activities.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in estate management, groundskeeping, or a related field. Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of landscaping, maintenance practices, and safety regulations. Budget management experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings as needed. Flexibility to respond to emergencies.
  • Excellent administrative and computer skills is an advantage. A valid driver’s licence – manual.
  • An ability to work harmoniously with pupils, parents, staff and the whole school community. A willingness to work within the framework and expectations set by the PEPPS Trust.
  • An excellent command of the English language. Proficiency in Sepedi will be an advantage.
  • All shortlisted candidates will be screened against the Sexual Offenders Register (Form 29/30).
