Job summary

NatCarbon Africa seeks an ESG Community Manager to lead social and environmental governance across the Spekboom Restoration Project in the Eastern and Western Cape. The role focuses on stakeholder engagement, project compliance, and social impact measurement within a large-scale carbon initiative.

You will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage ESMS development, and ensure alignment with Verra, CCB, and SIZA standards while supporting community development and transparency across project

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Sustainability, Environmental Management, Forestry, Climate Change or ESG field.
• Minimum 5–8 years of ESG/sustainability experience in community engagement and certification contexts.
• Experience with international sustainability standards (Verra, SIZA, etc.).
• Proven ability to design and lead stakeholder engagement, social surveys, and consent processes.
• Strong reporting, governance, risk management, and audit coordination capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring and reporting of ESG requirements for the Spekboom Restoration Project.
• Ensure compliance with Verra VCS/CCB, SIZA, labour and human rights standards.
• Develop and maintain the ESMS, collect and analyze ESG data, prepare stakeholder reports.
• Coordinate audits, validation/verification, and non-conformity corrective actions.
• Manage social impact activities, FPIC processes, and community capacity building.
