Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Environmental Services Technician to join their team in Cape Town, Western Cape. This vital role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and infection control within healthcare facilities, contributing directly to patient safety and well-being. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing specialized cleaning procedures, managing waste disposal, and maintaining a sterile environment in patient rooms, operating theaters, and common areas. This position requires an individual with a strong understanding of healthcare sanitation protocols, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively within a demanding environment. The role is hands-on, requiring physical stamina and a keen eye for detail to uphold our client's reputation for excellence in hygiene. Key Responsibilities

• Perform specialized cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, treatment areas, operating theaters, and other healthcare spaces according to strict protocols.
• Manage and dispose of medical waste, including biohazardous materials, in compliance with all regulations.
• Operate and maintain specialized cleaning equipment, such as industrial disinfectors and floor scrubbers.
• Conduct regular audits of sanitation practices and report any deficiencies or areas for improvement.
• Maintain a clean and organized environment, ensuring all supplies and equipment are properly stored.
• Respond promptly to sanitation emergencies or spills, following established emergency procedures.
• Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and inventory, ensuring availability for daily operations in Cape Town, Western Cape.
• Adhere strictly to infection control policies and procedures to prevent the spread of healthcare-associated infections.
• Collaborate with nursing and administrative staff to ensure seamless sanitation services.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental services or sanitation within a hospital or healthcare setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare-specific cleaning techniques, disinfection procedures, and infection control standards.
• Familiarity with handling and disposal of medical waste (biohazardous, sharps, etc.).
• Experience operating and maintaining various cleaning machines and tools.
• Strong understanding of safety data sheets (SDS) for cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining sterile environments.
• Good communication skills to interact with healthcare professionals.
• Must possess or be willing to obtain relevant certifications in healthcare sanitation.
• Must be located in or willing to relocate to Cape Town, Western Cape.
