Job description

Introduction

Are you passionate about protecting the environment and ensuring compliance in a high-performance manufacturing setting?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Environmental Officer to join a forward-thinking, world-class manufacturing operation. This role offers a unique chance to influence sustainability, drive compliance, and contribute to continuous improvement within a dynamic industrial environment.

The successful candidate will support and maintain the SHERQ strategy and systems, working closely with plant teams to ensure legal compliance, environmental best practice, and risk mitigation. From conducting inspections and audits to facilitating environmental training and spearheading investigations, this role offers real variety and impact.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and improving the Integrated Management System (IMS)
  • Conducting plant inspections and internal audits
  • Monitoring and analysing environmental indicators and compliance data
  • Facilitating risk assessments and leading investigations
  • Coaching teams on compliance, legal requirements and system best practices
  • Supporting training, awareness, and continuous improvement efforts

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • A B.Sc., B.Tech, or degree in a SHERQ-related field
  • 2–5 years’ experience in the chemical industry
  • Strong knowledge of IMS, environmental legislation, and risk-based thinking
  • Excellent data analysis, auditing, and reporting skills
  • Proficiency in systems such as IsoMetrix, SharePoint, and Qlikview
