Overview

ENVIRONMENTAL LAWYER - MINING INDUSTRY, Based Rosebank.

CTC: R1.4 million per annum.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
  • LLB degree, LLM, or MBA advantage
  • Must be an admitted attorney / advocate : Registered with the Legal Practice Council
  • SOUND KNOWLEDGE OF THE ENVIRONMENT LAW
  • Suitable applicants must have VAST experience within the mining industry (minimum 8 years post qualification experience in MINING ENVIRONMENTAL LAW)
  • Researching and advising on environmental issues
  • Handle applications for environmental authorizations
  • Attending to specialist reports pertaining to the mining environmental impact assessments
  • Drafting of legal and due dilligence reports and contracts
  • Identification of legal and commercial risks pertaining to environmental matters
  • Environmental social governance
  • Project agreements
  • Must have sound knowledge of South Africa's legal and regulatory landscape specifically in relation to MINING, ENVIRONMENTAL and SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT legislation (MPRDA, NEMA, SLP’s)
  • Provide specialized legal advice to the Group of companies in respect of strategic objectives focussing on commercial and mining law
  • Draft and review contracts
  • Ensure regulatory adherance
  • Ongoing legal research to identify potential risks, implications, requirements etc
