Job description

A vacancy has arisen for an Enrolled Nurse position at Life Nkanyisa, Baneng Care Centre, in Roodepoort, reporting to the Unit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring delivery of uncompromising quality care in line with Company strategic objectives and applicable health and nursing legislation for our intermediate care.

Critical Outputs
  • Conduct duties to meet the requirements of quality patient care, ensuring that all nursing activities carried out comply with SANC regulations, relevant legislations and Life Healthcare policies and procedures
  • Maintain all health, safety and infection control standards to ensure a safe patient environment
  • Effective utilization of resources
  • Effective maintenance of equipment
  • Accurate record keeping
  • Patient care – Determine and administer medication, contribute towards accurate record-keeping by recording and reporting any changes in patient’s physical condition and referral to medical practitioners
  • Participate in facility rehab programme as determined by MDT
  • Health education – Participate in education or learning programmes for patients, families, communication and staff
  • In-service training – Participate and attend in-service training and engage in workplace skills plan
  • Material resources – Manage ward stock and determine material needs
  • Human resources – Supervise sub-ordinates, delegate responsibilities, maintain discipline, orientate new employees and manage staff schedule
  • Build effective relationships with patients, doctors and other medical personnel to ensure quality patient care
Requirements
  • Qualification as an Enrolled Nurse
  • Current registration with SANC
  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Ability to work shifts according to the operational requirements of the hospital, day and night duty
  • Understanding of the SLA with DOH, its challenges and role players would be an advantage
