Job description
Overall monitoring and supervision of voluntary mental healthcare usersCLINICAL SPECIALITIES – CONSULTATION AND TREATMENT
  • Assessing and determining the status of the patient to evaluate the needs in order to assist in the drawing of care plans.
  • Interpreting symptoms and administration of medication as prescribed.
  • Providing the client with an explanation on treatment sequence.
  • Care of patient and execution of the care plan.
  • Promotion and maintenance of hygiene of a patient.
  • Monitoring of vital signs.
  • Promotion and maintenance of physical comfort, rest, sleep, exercise and reassurance of a patient.
  • Communicating with immediate superior on specific cases for further referrals.
  • Prepare patients for investigations requested by treating doctor are done.

e.g. laboratory tests, urinalysis, radiology and other therapeutic acts by a registered person.

  • Doing ward rounds at least hourly.
  • Patient supervision including accompanying patients to therapist walks etc.Indicators : In order to ensure patients` needs are identified, and personalised nursing care is made available to enable early detection, control and recovery from illnesses.
To ensure prevention / notification of health hazards.ADMINISTRATION
  • Take responsibility for Human Resource Management by : Orientating new and sessional staff.Perform specific administrative sequences associated with updating of clinical records and registers.
  • Keep accurate records of : Prescriptions and administration of medication.Education, support and advice given.Referrals.Medical supplies, equipment and scheduled medication.Nursing reports according to set standards and guidelines.History taking and assessments.Any orders given by treating doctor.Performs maintenance checks and reports to the unit manager.Indicators : In order to ensure administrative sequences dictating reporting requirements, record keeping and treatment procedures are complied with.
QUALITY ASSURANCE

Provide a quality Health Care Service, by :

  • Keeping abreast with new clinical developments, e.g. attending scheduled training, reading journals, policies and procedures related to the job.
  • Presenting training to peers and colleagues in your field of expertise.
  • Check that every patient has a care plan designed to fit his needs.
  • Assist with setting of goals, objectives and intervention for quality service delivery.
