Job summary

A leading healthcare provider is seeking an Enrolled Nurse Specialist for the Trauma/Casualty unit at Life Peglerae Hospital. This role involves conducting nursing activities to ensure quality patient care while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to foster a positive working environment. Responsibilities include delivering evidence-based clinical care, managing resources effectively, and maintaining compliance with healthcare legislation. The ideal candidate will be registered with the South African Nursing Council and possess post-qualification experience in an Emergency Unit.

Qualifications

  • 1-year post qualification experience in an Emergency Unit.
  • Compliance with the SANC code for an Enrolled Nurse and all applicable healthcare legislation.
  • Updated knowledge of relevant legislation, industrial relations, standards, codes, ethics, and competency standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct nursing activities to ensure quality patient care.
  • Participate to meet Patient Experience, Clinical and Safety outcomes targets.
  • Report any Customer complaints and participate in investigations.

Enrolled Nurse Specialist (Trauma/Casualty)

A vacancy exists for an Enrolled Nurse Specialist in the Trauma/Casualty unit based at Life Peglerae Hospital, reporting to Turi Makgamathe, Unit Manager. The purpose of this role is to conduct nursing activities to ensure quality patient care.

Critical Outputs

Effective Clinical skills to grow the business

  • Delivery of market-leading evidenced-based holistic clinical care within the scope of practice.
  • Effective relationship with internal and external stakeholders that enhances and optimise business growth.
  • Participative and collaborative with all members of the team to foster and develop a healthy and positive working environment that actively promotes a joint performance and value-based culture.
  • Effective people management – interacting and communicating with a multi-disciplinary team.

Effective cost management – Cost-effective utilisation of resources across all business processes (including pharmacy and clinical engineering)

  • Delivery of cost-effective care across all business processes within the agreed budgetary parameters.
  • Optimal and efficient resource utilisation as per agreed budgetary parameters.
  • Optimal and appropriate product utilisation including pharmaceuticals and equipment and sundries.
  • Control and manage Labour hours in accordance with the company policy.

Effective clinical skills to deliver the highest level of quality care benchmarked against international standards for quality and safety

  • Participate to meet Patient Experience, Clinical and Safety (Patient and Employee) outcomes targets in accordance with Life Healthcare set standards.
  • Report any Customer complaints and adverse events and participate in the investigation within the allocated timeframes.
  • Conduct all allocated tasks delegated by the Unit Manager/Shift Leader/Senior Registered Nurse.
  • Ensuring quality management systems and initiatives are conducted according to company policy.
  • Promoting a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Enforcing infection prevention principles as per company policy.

Requirements
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as an Enrolled Nurse is essential.
  • Compliance with the SANC code for an Enrolled Nurse and all applicable healthcare legislation.
  • 1-year post qualification experience in an Emergency Unit.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
