Job summary

Netcare is seeking an Enrolled Nurse to support patient care across our units in Gauteng. You will operate within your Scope of Practice, contribute to holistic patient wellbeing, adhere to hospital standards, and participate in handovers and infection prevention.

This role requires registration with the SANC, compliance with the SANC code, and relevant nursing experience. You will help maintain documentation, manage stock, and uphold Netcare values of care, dignity, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as an Enrolled Nurse.
• Compliance with the SANC code for an Enrolled Nurse and all applicable health care legislation.
• Relevant experience in the nursing discipline.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a therapeutic, clean and safe environment.
• Maintain documentation timeously and accurately reflecting patient care.
• Ensure stock is charged appropriately and assist with file compilation.
• Adhere to Netcare waste management principles.
• Report potential or actual risks identified.
• Maintain professional conduct per hospital policies and procedures.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Supervise ENAs as required.
• Practice patient care according to Scope of Practice and assume responsibility.
• Contribute to holistic patient care.
• Participate in ward/unit's quality improvement programme.
• Attend handover of report at shift commencement.
• Communicate with patients regarding their care.
• Promote patient health and wellbeing.
• Practice infection prevention and standard precautions.
• Promote good public relations with patients and visitors.
• Execute procedures per hospital standards.
• Refer patient complaints to sister-in-charge.
• Carry out assigned departmental duties.

  • Administration Management
    • Ensure that all documentation is maintained timeously and accurately, reflecting patient care.
    • Ensure all stock is charged appropriately.
    • Assist with file compilation.
  • Governance, quality and risk management
    • Maintain a therapeutic, clean and safe environment that is free from medico-legal hazards.
    • Adhere to Netcare medical waste management principles and all other waste management principles.
    • Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with the Machinery and Occupational Safety Act.
    • Report potential/actual risks identified.
    • Ensure all stock is well controlled.
    • Responsible for ensuring correct use, cleaning and storage of equipment.
    • Report equipment needing repair or replacement to sister-in-charge.
    • Maintain professional conduct and standards at all times in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
    • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
    • Acts in a supervisory capacity over ENA's.
  • Patient care
    • Practice patient care according to his/her Scope of Practice and assume total responsibility for these activities.
    • Contribute to the holistic care of patients.
    • Participate in ward/unit's quality improvement programme.
    • Attend handover of report at shift commencement.
    • Effective communication with patients' regarding their care.
    • Promotion of patient overall health and wellbeing.
    • Practice the principles of infection prevention and all standard precautions.
    • Promote and maintain good public relations with patients, relatives and visitors.
    • Execute all procedures according to hospital standards.
    • Refer all complaints from patients and doctors to sister-in-charge of the unit.
    • Carry out all departmental duties as assigned by supervisors.
