Job summary

Medtronic invites you to join a 12‑month Clinical Technologist Intern – Cardiovascular program across South Africa. As a field‑based intern in the Commercial team, you will support clinical and technical activities, assist with procedures, installations and on‑site education, while building patient‑focused skills.

The stipend is approximately R77,958 per year, with start date in November 2026, and travel to Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, and Pretoria as required.

Qualifications

A Day in the Life

As a Clinical Technology Intern in the Commercial team, you will work alongside experienced colleagues to build your clinical, technical and customer engagement skills while contributing to better access to innovative healthcare technologies. This role will give you exposure to customer support, procedure preparation and on-site education in a dynamic, field-based environment.

Internship Details

• Start date: November 2026 (Flexible start date)
• Duration: 12 months
• Location: Cape Town (Western Cape), Durban (KwaZulu-Natal), Johannesburg (Gauteng), Pretoria (Gauteng)
• Working hours: 40 h/week
• Work model: Field-based travel to support clinical stakeholders

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned

• Provide clinical and technical support before, during and after procedures.
• Assist with case preparation, product demonstrations, installations and first-line product support, as appropriate to the role.
• Respond to technical and application-related queries from sales colleagues and external stakeholders.
• Help deliver on-site education, consultation and customer follow-up while following Medtronic policies and hospital protocols.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Currently in the final year of studies, with graduation expected in 2026/2027, or recently completed studies
• A Bachelor of Health Science in Clinical Technology or a National Diploma in Clinical Technology, specialization in Cardiology
• Clear written and verbal communication skills in English
• Able to travel to support customer needs
• Must be currently unemployed
• Must be South African citizen
• Must be under the age of 30
• Have not participated in a YES programme previously
• Should not be currently enrolled in or planning to enroll in postgraduate studies
• Commits to complete 12-month internship

Would be a plus

• Driving license
• Strong technical aptitude and a willingness to learn medical technologies across relevant therapy areas
• Proactive team player with problem-solving and organizational skills
