A leading facilities management company in Gauteng is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to assist in achieving maintenance KPIs. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of electrical systems, proven experience in maintenance engineering, and strong problem-solving skills. Responsibilities include supporting maintenance operations, conducting equipment investigations, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. This role offers a dynamic work environment with opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.

Qualifications

  • 10 years relevant experience in electrical power systems maintenance and engineering tasks.
  • Electrical Trade test and Wireman's license are advantageous.
  • Registration with ECSA is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Support Maintenance Operations to resolve plant equipment issues.
  • Conduct risk management and compile reports for funding requests.
  • Attend project meetings and technical meetings with Clients.

Job description
BRIEF ROLE DESCRIPTION

To assist the Engineering Manager in ensuring that the Electrical KPI's Maintenance Engineering Department are achieved.

Key Performance Areas

Support to Maintenance Operations to resolve plant / equipment maintenance related issues.

Re-commissioning existing electrical equipment to original design criteria.

SAP Equipment / Structure build verified and are up to date for all electrical equipment.

Equipment structure verification work on SAP after information provided by maintenance staff or self-audits performed.

Also doing barcoding of equipment.

Planned maintenance scheduling reviews in terms of unplanned vs planned work.

Maintaining the FRL (Funding Requirements List).

The FRL is critical in managing the business risks for Bidvest Facilities Management and Client specific.

Maintaining the equipment life cycle calculator which is a critical input for the funding process.

Development of site-specific maintenance plans and strategies.

Development of equipment and site-specific Engineering Equipment Instructions.

Performing engineering-based maintenance analysis focused on reliability, maintainability, and availability to improve asset performance and lifecycle efficiency.

Plant and equipment failure investigations and compiling reports.

Technical report writing.

Risk management that involves tracking of equipment performance / failures and investigations.

Complete documentation and motivation for Funding Requests for electrical replacements, upgrades and refurbishment.

Compiling, processing and tracking of risk notifications.

Conducting site visits to assess equipment and plant conditions, and compiling reports as an input into the project planning and risk management processes.

Occupational Health and Safety Act, Applicable Regulations, General Machinery Regulation reporting to Cluster GMR 2.1 (Use information obtained from site visits).

Electrical Capacity Management (WAP and Co-user approvals).

Involved with Energy Management initiatives.

Approval of project specifications from a Reliability, Maintainability and Availability engineering point of view.

Acting as the single point of contact (SPOC) for projects, including approval of high-level designs and specifications, oversight of new technology implementations, conducting site inspections, and managing initial and final handovers to maintenance.

Attend project meetings and site visits for inspection purposes.

Analysing reports from Senior Business Analyst, investigate and implement improvements.

Attending technical meetings with Clients.

General administrative duties.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum N6 / T4 / S4 in Electrical Engineering - Heavy current.

Electrical Trade test (Advantageous).

Electrical Wireman's license as installation electrician (Advantageous).

Registration with ECSA (Advantageous).

Grade 12.

Valid driver's license.

10 years relevant experience in electrical power systems maintenance and engineering tasks.

Technical / Core Competencies

Have broad electrical technical knowledge with a strong focus on work standards, safety standards and customer relationship management.

Knowledge and experience to include electrical systems up to 11 kV, MV transformers and switchgear, Emergency Power Generators, Static and Dynamic UPS's.

Be able to work under pressure, travel within various sites, work overtime within reason.
