Job description

Minimum requirements

• National Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical) or equivalent; BEng or MEng preferred
• Experience in equipment maintenance and cold chain operations
• Knowledge of data processing and automation
• Programming skills (Python preferred) for sensor integration and data automation advantageous
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a research-driven environment
• Experience working with growers, packhouses, and cold store operators is a plus

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical and engineering support within the cold chain research programme
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot engineering-related equipment
• Conduct detailed evaluations of cold stores and refrigerated containers
• Oversee data collection and monitoring systems related to cold chain performance
• Contribute to packaging and cold chain performance assessments
• Collaborate with researchers and industry stakeholders to improve postharvest logistics
• Support automation and data integration projects within the cold chain programme
