Job description

Afrigen is seeking to appoint an Engineering Technician who will play a vital role in supporting engineering operations, maintenance, and calibration programmes across our manufacturing and laboratory environments. The role also offers the opportunity to contribute to ongoing engineering projects across multiple functional areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute installation, maintenance, calibration, and operational support activities for process, laboratory and plant systems.
  • Provide technical input and support for engineering projects to ensure delivery on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet operational goals.
  • Prepare, review, and manage engineering documentation such as PFDs, P&IDs, SOPs, protocols, and reports in line with GMP and company standards.
  • Support equipment commissioning, qualification, and re-qualification activities.
  • Coordinate with contractors, service providers, and vendors for maintenance and calibration services.
  • Uphold GMP, safety, and compliance standards in all engineering activities.
  • Participate in audits and ensure readiness of relevant documentation
Minimum Qualifications
  • BTech/ National Technical Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
Position Requirements
  • Strong technical expertise with hands-on experience and a track record in problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Quick learner with good communication skills, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and documentation management skills.
  • Over 3 years of experience in an engineering or technical role within a manufacturing or process-driven environment.
