Overall Responsibility:
To maintain equipment in as-new condition by ensuring machine and process reliability through regular inspections, corrective actions to restore equipment to its original condition, and problem-solving to address the root causes of failures with proper loop closure actions. The Engineering Specialist will provide functional leadership for plant maintenance within the designated plant, working closely with the Production Team Leaders to ensure plant reliability is maintained to standard.
Focus Area 1
Maintenance management
- Accountable for the development & continuous improvement of maintenance programs of the allocated equipment to the Specialist (includes mechanical, electrical & instrumentation)
- Review and interpret engineering specifications, schematics, and blueprints to determine Maintenance SOP's/Work instructions
- Provide guidance and oversee Problem solving process as per Manufacturing excellence Focused improvement pillar
- Continually improve the standard of the allocated machine maintenance programs through the problem-solving loop closure process
- Ensure safe operation of allocated machines
- Establish and maintain an effective spare parts inventory list & availability of same
- Assist in the introduction of Condition monitoring process/tools into the machine maintenance program
- Coach operators on Autonomous maintenance process and practice
Focus Area 2
Safety adherence
- Adhere to all Company and plant safety standards
- Implement safety practices as per SHE pillar handbook
- Support safety observation process to promote a safer workplace
Focus Area 3
Start-up & SKU change process
- Assist with Start-up & Shut down SOP's
- Assist Production with development of operational SOP's when requested
- Develop SKU change SOPs with Maintenance & Production staff
Requirements of the Role
- Grade 12 along with trade certificate (successfully completed)Valid unendorsed driver’s license and own transport
- Experience/Certification with reliability centered maintenance preferredFamiliar with mechanical systems such as welding, part fabrication, fluid transfer, pneumatics and plumbing is highly desired
- Good knowledge of safety requirements
- Willing to work afterhours or on weekends as per the production demands
- Practical experience with high-speed bottling/packaging operations in food/beverage industries will be highly advantageous
- Familiar with electrical systems such as controls, automation, VFDs, PLCs is essential
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant technical experience, preferably in the brewing, beverage or FMCG industry
- Tertiary education, degree or diploma, Electrical engineering (advantageous, not a prerequisite
