- B.Sc. (Eng) or B.Eng. preferable but other relative tertiary qualifications will be considered.
- Registration as a professional engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) would be advantageous.
- Minimum 10 years broad-based engineering and manufacturing experience in and FMCG or related industries.
- Minimum 5 years experience at executive/senior level within a matrix organisation as either head of engineering, or head of manufacturing excellence (or similar), or both.
- Relevant senior management experience in managing a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Willingness to travel extensively.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and drive the implementation of the company's engineering and manufacturing excellence strategy, plans, vision, and goals, and ensure alignment with the overall business strategy.
- Provide specialist advice to the business pertaining to engineering and manufacturing excellence matters.
- Provide business partnership and support at an executive team level and within business units, and monitor the implementation of engineering and manufacturing excellence initiatives and priorities
- Ensure engineering and manufacturing excellence initiatives are key considerations when planning business activities.
- Capital planning, prioritisation and allocation of funding as well as capacity planning oversite.
- Major engineering project scoping, management, and execution (ownership of scope, project management and contractor relationship).
- Project engagement and oversight (develop and monitor project governance principles and provide oversight).
- EAM program reporting and asset care (develop roadmap and conduct audits on status).
- Ensure that all operations comply with relevant safety standards and regulations.
- Act as the designated Section 16.2 (of the Occupational Health and Safety Act) appointee for the business.
- Own the Stock to Cost (S2C) business process.
- Develop and monitor fit-for-purpose manufacturing practices and standards for the business.
- Benchmark and monitor cost of production and coach / challenge relevant production managers to drive improvements.
- Design, coordinate and monitor a fit-for-purpose continuous improvement (CI) and savings roadmap. Monitor the savings project pipeline and provide oversight to the executive team.
- Develop a team of continuous improvement professionals within the group who will provide support for key CI and productivity projects.
- Develop engineering and technical capability building programs in support of the company's engineering and manufacturing strategy.
- Develop manufacturing capability building programs to enable world class manufacturing across the business.
- Lead the Lean Six Sigma - LSS (and/or other relevant programs) training program and track progress of delivery of various improvement programs delivered by LSS practitioners.
- Champion talent development and succession planning for engineering and manufacturing.
