Engineering Manager, Enstra Plant, Gauteng | Closing date: 1st October

Overview

As a natural leader, you are continuously learning and taking initiative to improve processes and lead others. In this role, you will help deliver better care for billions of people worldwide.

Manage a multi‑functional engineering and project management team, ensuring assets are maintained, operated and managed at world‑class safety, quality and cost standards. You will be a key member of the Facility Management Team, providing strategic and tactical input.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure assets are kept in a “Safe to operate” condition, promoting safe practices to meet all safety and housekeeping objectives.
  • Adhere to all statutory and legal requirements.
  • Develop and execute a world‑class maintenance strategy for mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and civil disciplines.
  • Implement lean best‑practice management covering Capex, preventive maintenance and project management excellence.
  • Lead and execute mill‑efficiency and plant‑capacity improvement projects.
  • Foster continuous improvement through empowerment, education and training.
  • Create a workplace that encourages high involvement and maximizes team capabilities.
  • Identify and develop potential leaders through KC Culture demonstration.
  • KPI – Safety: Build a world‑class safety culture with a zero reportable injury frequency.
  • KPI – Quality: Meet quality targets by maintaining assets to correct standards.
  • KPI – Corporate ethics: Compliance with KCC, regulatory and control requirements.
  • KPI – Cost: Drive cost‑transformation programs and achieve the facility objective of total cost of manufacturing and conversion.
Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Professionally qualified engineer registration desirable.
  • Excellent business acumen, continuous improvement mindset, change‑management and leadership skills.
  • Minimum 10 years of engineering/project/maintenance experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in the pulp & paper industry or FMCG environment.
