The purpose of the role is to develop and implement the engineering and maintenance strategy, ensuring that the plant meets operational, safety, and performance objectives. The Engineering Manager is responsible for driving continuous improvement, managing CAPEX projects, ensuring equipment reliability, and building a high-performing technical team.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute engineering and maintenance strategies in line with business objectives.
  • Lead continuous improvement programmes and progress towards World Class Manufacturing standards.
  • Set and monitor engineering and process targets, implementing measures to achieve them.
  • Direct engineering functions including tooling, process engineering, maintenance, and prototyping.
  • Ensure compliance with standards such as OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9000.
  • Manage critical spares in line with inventory policy to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Lead and manage high-level CAPEX engineering projects using best practice methodologies.
  • Lead, coach, and manage a team of engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff.
  • Foster a culture of safety, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Define skills requirements and implement training plans to strengthen team capability.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate governance, risk management, and safety standards.
  • Serve as a role model for safety leadership, placing safety at the core of all site activities.
  • Build strong internal and external relationships, including with suppliers and customers.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (essential)
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in engineering and maintenance within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems
  • Exposure to OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9000 standards
  • Strong track record in leading CAPEX projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Prior management experience (advantageous)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent project management and leadership skills
  • Competence in SAP, Excel, and PLC systems
  • Effective communicator with strong influencing and coaching capability
