Job summary

AECI Mining Chemicals in Gauteng seeks a Category Specialist: Engineering to develop strategic sourcing approaches for critical mechanical equipment, spares and services. You will work with engineering, maintenance and operations teams to improve plant reliability and cost efficiency.

Lead end-to-end sourcing activities, negotiate with suppliers and drive category initiatives using market intelligence and spend analysis.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement or related discipline.
Postgraduate qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain or Business Management – advantageous
Professional procurement certification (for example CIPS) – advantageous
Project Management certification (PMP, Prince2 or equivalent) – advantageous

Responsibilities

Develop sourcing strategies for critical mechanical equipment to improve plant reliability and continuity.
Manage sourcing activities for engineering spares, maintenance services and operational requirements.
Drive end-to-end sourcing activities, including RFx processes, supplier evaluations, and negotiations.
Support category strategies with market intelligence and demand insights.
Conduct spend analysis, market and supplier research to identify opportunities and risks.
Monitor supplier markets and ensure alignment with operational continuity.
Identify alternative suppliers to improve reliability and responsiveness.
Input procurement dashboards and support planning through spend analysis.
