Job summary

IVANHOE MINES is seeking an Engineering Applications Specialist to support engineering systems within Ivanhoe Operations. The role involves coordinating application projects, implementing new technologies, and developing PowerBI reports and PowerApps for operations.

The incumbent will manage contracts with suppliers, maintain existing applications, and train interns and students. A degree in engineering and PM experience are required, with knowledge of databases, integration, and reporting

Qualifications

• Engineering degree from a university (industrial/mechanical preferred).
• Project management experience (0-3 years).
• Experience with engineering applications implementation.
• Knowledge of MS PowerBI/PowerApps is a plus.

Ivanhoe is focused on developing and expanding its four principal mining and exploration projectsin Southern Africa. The development ofthe Kamoa-Kakula copper mining complex in the Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC), the Platreef palladium-rhodium-platinum-nickel-copper-gold discovery in South Africa,the extensive redevelopment and upgrading of the historic Kipushi zinc-copper-germanium-silver mine, also in the Democratic Republic of Congo and exploration on the Western Foreland, near Kamoa-Kakula.

The incumbent will assist in coordinating the establishment of the engineering systems environment for Ivanhoe Operations. Core functions will include the organizing of, and participation in, application architecture sessions, workshops with operations, workshops with suppliers, and support of an integrated set of applications as well as the development of MS PowerBI reports and MS PowerApps for use by the operations.

The incumbent will project manage new technologies and ensure integration services are established to existing applications. The incumbent will maintain, refine and optimise existing applications, and manage contracts with suppliers. The incumbent will develop PowerBI reports and PowerApps, as well as oversee the development of reports and apps.

Mandatory Qualifications and experience:

• Engineering Degree from a university preferably Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Project management
• Certification and/or training in various engineering applications
• Applications implementation experience(0-3years)
• Engineering systems experience (0-3 years)
• Project management experience (0-3 years)
• Systems architecture experience regarded a plus (1 year experience)

Advantageous skills:

• Fabric development
• Interdisciplinary understanding regarding the applications landscape
• Understanding of underground mining applications, fleet management and production systems
• Digital control systems

Technical Skills should include:

• PowerBI development
• PowerApp development
• Managing complex engineering applications and projects
• Project management, planning and budgeting
• Understanding of databases, integration, data elements and reporting
• Technical aptitude

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to:

• Coordinate engineering application projects and services
• Project manage the implementation of new technologies
• Develop PowerBI reports
• Develop PowerApps
• Monitor 3rd party services and manage contracts
• Monitor supporting technologies
• Report to management and steering committees
• Ensure accurate information is provided via dashboards or reports
• Assist in the control room design, implementation and operation
• Train, guide and manage the Group Applications internships and vacation students
• Readiness to manage internal engineering & data roles if approved in the future
• Work with HOD's in engineering and technical services
