Job summary

A leading company in the paper industry is seeking an experienced Technical Support Engineer: Reliability to enhance equipment reliability and maintenance effectiveness. The successful candidate will focus on asset condition monitoring, collaborate with maintenance teams, and drive the development of effective maintenance strategies. A NQF level 7 qualification and at least 5 years of experience in heavy industry are required.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a heavy industry environment and/or completed structured EIT programme.
  • Pulp and paper experience will be considered advantageous.
  • Vibration I,II, III qualification will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and refine the asset maintenance plan.
  • Drive and further develop SAP utilisation and maturity.
  • Undertake detailed analysis to develop strategies for plant reliability.

We are hiring!

We’re on the lookout for an experienced Technical Support Engineer: Reliability Primary with Focus Condition Monitoring and associated Technology to apply analysis methods to determine the reliability of components, equipment, and processes of the Mill’s operations, developing and implementing strategies, making recommendations that will improve equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness and asset standardization by identifying and managing asset reliability risks, namely Loss Elimination, Risk Management and Life Cycle Asset Management.

As a Technical Support Engineer: Reliability, you will be responsible for:
  • Monitor and refine the asset maintenance plan that includes value-added preventive maintenance tasks; appropriately and effective deploy and monitor the utilisation of predictive, proactive, condition-based, and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems
  • Primary focus on continous development and deployment of Asset Condition Monitoring and associated Technologies enhancing the departments value offering to the mill.
  • Drive and further develop SAP utilisation and maturity and enable adherence to maintenance standards and business processes with a special focus on asset utilisation, planning and scheduling preparation, and maintenance execution
  • Undertake detailed analysis of the plant/assets to develop and enhance strategies and recommendations that will improve the reliability and performance of the plant, system, maintenance effectiveness, and optimising life cycle costs
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to develop, maintain, and compile asset reliability, criticality, and condition information necessary for the asset planning, delivery and maintenance strategies as well as capital spending
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of the relevant statutory documentation and standards
  • Assist the maintenance planning team to develop effective asset care strategies, standards, schedules, and task instructions, through accurate data analysis and reporting
  • Develop engineering solutions and drive the implementation thereof, for repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include safety, capacity, run rate, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues using renewal or maintenance capital funds
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment through compliance with legal regulations and mill procedures
  • Participate in compiling and implementing annual and long-term (5-year plan) financial business plans to execute the maintenance and improvement strategy
What are we looking for?
  • Relevant NQF level 7 qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Engineering degree or related equivalent)
  • Government certificate of competence (Factories) considered advantageous
  • MDP or relevant management qualification advantageous
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a heavy industry environment and or completed structured EIT programme
  • Pulp and paper experience will be considered advantageous
  • Vibration I,II, III qualification will be advantageous
  • Good knowledge in Reliability disciplines i.e. RCM, FMEA, FMECA, RCA, etc.
  • Continuous professional development towards ECSA, SAAMA etc. registration advantageous
